RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Quality
-Plan and implement IRC communications and mass-information campaigns.
-Implement and monitor the delivery of the communications and media strategies and plans.
-Develop, package and disseminate situation reports, information materials and other communication materials needed for humanitarian response.
-Work with program teams to collect project information from e.g. partners, media, and external stakeholders.
-Review all publications and field visibility produced by the organization to ensure that the IRC branding and communication guidelines are uniformly and consistently followed across the country program as well as in line with donor guidelines.
-Conceptualize, develop and package various information materials on IRC’s work for communications and/or advocacy purposes (e.g. brochures, briefing kits, videos, informational material...).
-Act as a resource person for programs requesting trainings for staff and partners.
-Support program staff in improvements of internal and programmatic communications, such as finding creative ways of information dissemination in program locations (audio and video tutorials for beneficiaries and new hires, improvement of waiting areas in program locations through better and more creative information dissemination etc.).
-Support program staff in preparing and researching internal and external presentations.
-Design and implement creative approaches to participatory advocacy and communications projects with beneficiaries.
-Plan and implement creative communications events in the field (arts and crafts workshops with beneficiaries, stop motion animations workshops etc.).
-Design and implement information/data collection tools to better understand program audiences and beneficiaries.
-Monitor and evaluate ongoing
communication campaigns to improve future delivery.
Coordination and Liaison
-Liaise and maintain contact with Regional and Head Offices (US and UK) in implementing communication activities.
-Conceptualize, design, post in, and coordinate with HQ (both US and UK) on the social media platform (i.e., twitter and Facebook, intra/extranet).
-Work closely with SRR Media Officer to present IRC experiences in communications and media work in local, national and international forums.
-Liaise and vet journalists as well as liaise with and prepare field staff and beneficiaries for upcoming media visits.
-Liaise with other agencies on inter-agency communications and mass information campaigns, as well as plan and implement campaigns.
-Represent the IRC in inter-agency meetings related to communications and public relations.
-Liaise with donors on IRC and donor visibility and communications outputs in the field and for broader audience.
Supervisory
-Supervise Communication and Information Assistant.
-Supervise and/or coordinate with interns, volunteers and consultants/service providers that may be assigned to do communications and media work, ensuring competencies and outputs meet the program’s demands and expectations.
-Build capacity of IRC staff in relation to communications and media through the development of guidelines, training materials and projects, and briefing staff on campaign objectives and messages.
Resource Management
-Draw up budgets for communications and media work and activities, manage spending within budgets, and provide justifications for variances to the finance department if needed.
-Perform other tasks consistent with the position roles and responsibilities as may be requested from time to time by his/her supervisor.
