The Executive Director is a dynamic leader who sees the opportunity to scale up JEFE as one of the most compelling jobs in the social innovation sector in Jordan. He or she will bring significant managerial and entrepreneurial skills, strong private sector relations and ideally experience growing an ambitious enterprise (either non-profit or for-profit).
Scope of Work
1. Leadership
• Reporting directly to the JEFE Board of Directors, the Executive Director works closely with the EFE-Global teams in Washington, DC, New York, and Europe, as well as the other regional teams to develop strategy, identify programmatic needs and provide leadership and guidance to JEFE staff.
• Ensure the sound and prudent financial management of the organization.
• Represent JEFE and the EFE Network in meetings, public events, media events, conferences, etc.
2. Operations and Human Resources Management
• Recruit, motivate and oversee JEFE team members and provide guidance on their roles and priorities.
• Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization.
• Recruit, interview and select staff that have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization’s mission.
• Ensure that all staff receives an orientation to the organization and that appropriate training is provided.
• Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review.
• Discipline staff when necessary using appropriate techniques; release staff when necessary using appropriate and legally defensible procedures.
• Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations of its beneficiaries, Board, funders and other partners.
• Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the organizational policies; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board as appropriate.
• Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations.
• Provide support to the Board by preparing meeting agenda and supporting materials.
3. Corporate and Institutional Partnerships
• Develop corporate partners for EFE’s training and job placement programs in Jordan, including involvement in customizing training, hiring graduates, and co-funding projects.
• Identify and develop partnerships with educational institutions, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations in Jordan.
4. Fundraising
• Represent EFE in Jordan to secure contributions from donors.
• Explore funding possibilities and write grant proposals.
• Prepare reports to donors and ensure compliance with grant conditions and objectives.
• Coordinate with EFE-Global on fundraising initiatives.
5. Program Development, Management and Evaluation
• Provide day-to-day management and implementation of all operations in Jordan.
• Prepare a work plan with milestones and action terms for each training program.
• Monitor and evaluate project performance.
• Develop ideas for new training programs that will assure job opportunities, based on a sectoral study of the Jordan labor market.
• Facilitate discussions with key local stakeholders, such as academic institutions and businesses on curriculum design, student selection, program design, job placement, and other key interventions.
• Provide quarterly and annual progress reports per program and funder requirements.
6. Financial Administration
• Recommend yearly budget for Board approval and manage the organization’s resources within the budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations.
• Work closely with the financial manager to prepare the budget and financial reports and oversee preparation of grant expense reports.
• Prepare annual budget projections in coordination with EFE’s Program Manager.
